Protection expert and TV host James B. Towle to Provide Live, Interactive “How to Survive” Presentation at Gun-Sampling Event |
A live presentation of the show Stop The Threat, simulator sessions, and gun-firing packages are part of a special event at Boyert Shooting Center
June 26, 2015 – Top headlines on gun violence lead practically every news cycle nationwide. Texas in particular has had its share of gun-related stories, as two different bills, the “open carry law” and the “campus carry law,” were recently signed into legislation by Governor Greg Abbott. This combination of changes in gun laws and the media frenzy that inspires “armchair quarterbacking” in terms of how citizens -- many of them unprepared and untrained -- would react in the face of dangerous situations has inspired one man to present a special event that will educate, inform, entertain, and potentially save lives. Protection and safety expert James B. Towle has announced that he will present his inaugural Gun Tasting at Boyert Shooting Center in Houston on Tuesday, July 7 and Sunday, July 12. Towle, host and executive producer of ATSN Network television show Stop The Threat, says the event will be a combination of instructional and hands-on training, simulator exercises, and life-saving tips as part of an interactive, personal, live version of the show called Stop The Threat: Live! As part of the event, in a take-off of the samplings offered in a wine-tasting event, Boyert Shooting Center is offering several “gun-tasting” packages that allow attendees to try out shooting various weapons from handguns to fully automatic machine guns. Sessions in the facility’s simulator rooms are included in the package prices. These simulator sessions, as well as the round-table discussion motif of Stop The Threat: Live!, are key components to weapons safety and training. “With the changes in Texas laws and the upcoming result that lawful gun owners can openly carry and that college campuses will allow concealed carrying, it is essential that members of the public – whether they own a gun or not – are trained in how to deal with life-threatening situations,” Towle said. “I’ve heard many people say that if the parishioners in the South Carolina church had been allowed to arm themselves, fewer people may have died. There are times to shoot, and there are times to keep holstered, and events like this are designed to help people make the proper decision if and when the time comes.”
The Gun Tasting will be held on Tuesday, July 7 and Sunday, July 12, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. both days, at Boyert Shooting Center, located at 9099 Westheimer Road in Houston. Tickets to the event can be purchased at the facilities, or on the Boyert website at www.boyert.com. Stop The Threat airs Mondays on the Sportsman Channel at 9:30 p.m. Central Time (DirecTV Channel 605/Dish Network 395 HD and 395 and local cable channels) and Fridays on the Pursuit Channel at 8:00 p.m. Central Time (DirecTV Channel 604/Dish Network 393).
